I’m falling behind with posting new text and images. There is more on the way for sure. So now I have moved camp much closer to the fabled Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. About six miles. Walked the trail to the cliff dwellings this morning. Outstanding, very scenic walk up to the ruins. Lots of pictures to come when I’m finished editing. I’m very pleased with camping here during November. It may well become a regular trip in the future.

Swinging on the East Fork of the Gila river

Right behind the trailer – about 25 feet away down a high bank – is the East Fork of the Gila river. Funny thing, I hadn’t seen it when I parked the rig, but when I got down to look the river over, I saw it – a swing hung from an overhanging cottonwood tree. Thoughts immediately came to mind about having some fun with it. No doubt whoever strung it up had the same thought, too. Well, the first thing I thought of was to test it, to make sure it would hold me. Then I thought, well, I wouldn’t want to fall in the river fully clothed, so I thought, “What would an angler do?” Simple. put on waders and my fishing vest, string up a fly rod, set up a tripod, and pretend I had been fishing.

What fun! Here’s the shot:
