Welcome image makers. This blog is intended to be my connection with other image makers. I use the moniker “image makers” to differentiate between people who simply press the shutter release to take pictures with generally more mindful folks who, well, think about what they are about to do with a camera…before they press the shutter.
I make the above distinction not to disparage those who photograph news events and who therefore rely on “getting the shot” under any circumstance. Their job often requires thinking on their feet, invariably having to be prepared for the next shot. To be sure, it’s an incredibly demanding job. While I include myself in this category for the most part, I, like others in this group, also make images under less demanding circumstances than fast-breaking news. Landscapes, people portraits, wildlife, the list is really endless. Surely, opportunities for creative use of photography remain infinite, thereby perpetually challenging the creative, inquisitive mind.
